Hosted by 2012 Young New Zealander of the Year, Sam Johnson, the remarkable founder of Christchurch’s Student Volunteer Army, the Gala is a black tie, dress-up occasion and a fantastic opportunity to get an overview of the artists, performers, events and entertainment within this year’s festival.

Experience a mystical M?ori welcome from the magical Mika, then sit back and enjoy a colourful best-of-the-fest cavalcade of local and international cabaret, theatrical monologues, musical interludes, burlesque, bump and grind, uniforms in formation, flashes of flesh and flags a-flutter. Immerse yourself in a dazzlingly affirmative atmosphere, where brazen actors stand alongside audacious drag queens, and trumpets herald the start of festivities. Be moved by liberating entertainment as only the queer community can deliver!

Directed by the creators of Auckland’s original LGBT gala, Verity George and Lisa Prager, for one night only at Q Theatre on Queen Street. Expect depth, breadth and height!

The Auckland Pride Gala is certain to be a very special celebratory night out. If you like what you see, then book tickets to the Auckland Pride Festival events and support the artists and performers who love to entertain you.
