Are you the next young cartoonist?
The competition is open to all New Zealand residents aged 18-35. Each entrant should submit a portfolio of three cartoons which can be in colour or black & white along with a brief written explanation. The cartoons should combine an understanding of political and social situations and their contradictions and complications with a talent for drawing effective cartoons.
The topic of the first cartoon should be a comment on some current global issue.
The second cartoon should deal with the current New Zealand political or social scene.
The final cartoon should be local in content – dealing with a current issue in the city, town or area the contestant comes from.
The winner will receive $5,000 and their winning portfolio published in a print edition of NZ Listener and on the Listener website.
Two runners up will receive $500 each and their their portfolio in a print edition of NZ Listener and on the Listener website.
A selection of other entries will also be showcased in the Listener and on its website.
