Sybille Schlumbom/ billadonna- lost and found
Going back ‘home’ always feels like visiting the past.
Realising that re-visiting the past is a step forwards and not back is easier when you follow your passion- when billadonna & sons are going back to Germany for a few weeks this winter, it will not only be a chance for the boys to connect with their family and language; I have been lucky to receive an invitation to the ‘professional audience‘preview of the documenta 14.
The documenta is a prestigious European contemporary arts exhibition taking place in Kassel, Germany, every 5 years. Established in 1955, it’s initiall role was the reinstatement of Germany as a place of culture, where contemporary art is valued and supported. The success was overwhelming from the beginning, and today the documenta is one of the big, shining events in the international arts agenda, where art is not only presented but actively created, discussed and analysed. https://documenta-historie.de/en#
Our time to travel has been chosen well, with Art Basel 2017 and Venice Biennale all taking place this year.
Preparing to look forward to the past I took some time to go through my artistic work, accumulated over the last ten years.
Lost and found is an overview with sketches, illustrations, explorations in different styles, techniques and subjects. All artworks are for sale to support of our travels.
I am looking forward to see you all, my New Zealand past, present and future friends, colleagues and fellow artists, to the opening of Lost and found.
