Book School : lino cuts and split fountain with Joe Buchannan
Book School is an 8-week series that takes participants from writing through to production and all the way to the book launch. Come to one or come to all.
This is a two-part workshop to create and print your own lino-cut!
Part 1: Planning a simple linocut image to accompany letterpress printing. You’ll learn to transfer the image to lino and cut it. Attendees should find or create a simple image, A5 or smaller, and bring this to the workshop as a black and white photocopy or laserprint.
Part 2: In part 2 you’ll mount a linocut on a block, raising it to type height and then print it on an Adana, including using split fountain techniques to print simple multi-colour images.
Joe Buchanan began letterpress printing in the late 1980s. printing stickers, leaflets and zines in support of peace and human rights activism.
