Doc Edge Forum is an annual industry conference that brings together local and international film, television and interactive media professionals, practitioners and stakeholders. The Forum offers a curated selection of seminars, panel discussions, masterclasses and networking opportunities. It also incorporates Doc Edge Pitch, a documentary pitching forum for shorts, features and television series.

The Auckland Doc Edge Forum will offer a selection of bespoke panel discussions with local and international experts that will educate and inspire filmmakers to think creatively, and to find effective solutions to audience engagement. Panel discussions will investigate the latest trends in distribution strategy, international co-productions and VOD.

The Auckland programme will also look at current and important issues within the local documentary industry and give unique access to decision makers, funding agencies and visiting filmmakers. The Doc Edge Forum will conclude with a casual networking opportunity for attendees to discuss partnerships with like-minded professionals.

The Wellington Doc Edge Forum will offer three masterclasses from established, professional filmmakers from Australia, Canada and the USA. They will share their creative and strategic approach to documentary filmmaking, with each masterclass focusing on the filmmakers’ unique areas of expertise.

  • Alexandre O. Philippe (CH/USA) – Documentary Screenwriting
  • John Walker (CAN) – The Cinematographer as Filmmaker
  • Rebecca Barry (AUS) – Impact Producing

The day’s programme is designed to give mid-level screen industry professionals the opportunity to upskill in both practical filmmaking techniques and strategic audience engagement.  The Forum will conclude with networking drinks at The Roxy.

Free pass to Memory: The Origins of Alien:
Directed by Alexandre O. Philippe, Memory: The Origins of Alien will be screened at The Roxy at 9.00pm on June 14.  The Wellington Forum Pass will also grant admission to this screening.
