Joan Emery presents a dynamic selection of paintings in this solo exhibition. Joan works in a broad range of styles, from large scale abstracts to small still life oil paintings. Joan will be present in the gallery each Sunday for the duration of the exhibition.

Joan Emery has worked as a professional artist for many years and explores a range of mediums, genres and subject matter in both painting and printmaking.

She has exhibited, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Her work is held in many countries including Australia, NZ, UK, Canada, USA, Japan and Germany.

Influences on her art include her work experiences (Registered Psychologist, University lecturer, private practice), her life experiences (a Welsh immigrant to New Zealand – brought up in a small village Cwmfelinfach), the New Zealand landscape and seascape and much more.

Her studio – The Blue Door Studio – at The Quarry Arts Centre – operates both as a functioning workspace and as a gallery. She is usually working in her studio and visitors are very welcome to drop in, or simply contact her to make an appointment to visit. Work can be bought directly from her and from the Quarry Arts Centre Gallery.

The Quarry Arts Centre is a unique hub for Northland's creative community. Situated in a disused quarry in central Whangarei, the Quarry Arts Centre is a home to artist studios, a ceramics store, a community kiln, hire-able rooms for pottery and art, a delightful little cafe, and two galleries.
