Critter Craft

When - Āhea: Wed 7 August 2019, 10.00am–12.00pm

Where - Ki hea: Te Papa Hui - The Backyard, Te Taiao Nature

Ants, moths, spiders, butterflies, bees and more – there are all kinds of critters in Te Taiao - Nature! Come along and play with different materials and textures, shapes and tools to make your own bug or critter. A morning of making and doing. Drop in.

 

String Bean Puppets – Once in a Full Moon

When - Āhea: Wed 14 August 2019, 11.00am–11.30pm.

Where - Ki hea: Te Papa Hui - The Backyard, Te Taiao Nature

Join puppeteer Anna Bailey for a Te Taiao themed show. This week: Once in a Full Moon. One evening deep in the New Zealand bush a lonely kiwi looks up at the sky and mistakes the full moon for a giant egg. Can kiwis fly? Can moons fall from the sky? Can wishes come true? A magical string puppet adventure that introduces the audience to an intimate encounter with a few of New Zealand's special native creatures.

 

Backyard Kaitiaki: Manu Feeders

When - Āhea: Wed 21 August 2019, 10.00am–12.00pm.

Become a backyard kaitiaki! Make a recycled manu (bird) feeder to attract tui, pīwakawaka, and other native manu to your backyard. Drop in.

Join puppeteer Anna Bailey for a Te Taiao themed show. This week: Tree Friends. Kererū and Millie are best friends. When a baby Kohekohe tree is left orphaned in a storm they work together to protect him from the invaders. An interactive puppet show for all ages about the struggle against invasive weed species.
