Weasel Gallery is proud to present The Sweet Taste Of Numbness, a solo exhibition by Maioha Kara.
Kara states "Drawing from narratives within Te Ao Māori, my artworks respond to the connections between Maramataka, the Māori lunar calendar; constellations and star clusters; and their significance both to us and our natural environment."
Working with these concepts, Kara uses a plunge router to draw upon the surface of the panels, creating shallow indentations in the wood. Following the drawing phase, Kara uses paint, resin and glitter to fill and finish the works.
Please join us for the opening of The Sweet Taste Of Numbness; to meet the artist and to experience this rhythmic, meticulous, and visually stunning body of work.
