Studio One Toi Tū is temporarily closed from Tuesday 24 March in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19. All events, exhibitions and courses are cancelled until further notice.

In line with the government’s announcement today, Auckland Council has temporarily closed all arts, community and event venues from 5pm, Monday 23 March. This applies to all community centres, arts facilities, community galleries, theatres and venues for hire (unless required to support the government’s response to COVID-19). Our staff remain available to support you during this time, but will be working remotely. For information or queries please contact us by email. Visit covid19.govt.nz for more information.

This exhibition showcases pieces made using epoxy resin, acrylic paint and ink overlaid with sand, sea life and rubbish collected from the various beaches across Auckland and Northland. The ocean has played a significant role in McKenzie’s life and increasingly she sees the effects of human activity impacting the shores of Aotearoa.  The intention of this body of work is to remind us of environmental fragility and to consider new ways to preserve our ecology.
