‘Ko rātou, ko tātou | On Otherness and Us-ness: Women of Islam, from inside and alongside’ pays homage to the New Zealand Muslim community devastated by the horrific events in Christchurch of 15 March 2019. Curated by Salama Moata McNamara and Sonja van Kerkhoff, the poignant show by artists from diverse backgrounds includes responses to the theme in various media, highlighting the role of women in Islam and reactions to Islamophobia. Pakistani artist Narjis Mirza presents a site-specific light projection with a sound piece, while other works relate more directly to the massacre or to empathy. The show is open in Northart's galleries 1, 2 and 3 daily from 10am to 4pm until 1 April.
