NZ Mountain Film and Book Festival
The Great Indoors
For the first time ever the NZ Mountain Film and Book Festival will be available online! The festival’s 54 films will be available to view from 26 June to 5 July. The event packed full of NZ made and international adventure, environmental and cultural films runs live in Wanaka and Queenstown this weekend but viewers from all over New Zealand can tune in to enjoy the award-winning films, incredible guest speakers and adventure storytelling. The film categories screening includes the Opening Night, Pure NZ, Snow Show, Nature and the Environment and Mountain Culture Shows. Check out the teaser above.
A festival highlight is the Pure NZ session; this includes the Hiddleston/MacQueen Award - Best NZ Film: The KFC. The KFC, from Director Richard Sidey, follows five New Zealanders as they take on a paragliding adventure in Tanzania, with the ultimate aim of flying from the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro. Kilimanjaro is the highest freestanding mountain in the world; the altitude change from the top to the bottom makes it the biggest glide it’s possible to do on the planet. Stunning imagery, experiencing a new culture, adventure and camaraderie make this a quintessential Kiwi tale.
The films on offer are world-class. We travel from Queenstown to Kilimanjaro, Alaska to the Grand Canyon. Some films are high action, fast paced and adrenaline fueled, some films are focused on people and the environment, there is something for everyone!
The Online Festival Pass is great value at US$14.95 (approx NZ$24.55) to watch 54 films spread over 8 sessions. You can also view singular sessions for US$6. Online Festival Pass holders also get free access to 5 bonus movies.
