From the early 70s when Bob Marley's songs were first heard on radio and his subsequent tour to New Zealand in 1979, the influence of Bob Marley's music has always been strong amongst Maori.
Over two decades later the talented Maori twins, Ruia and Ranea Aperahama bring Bob Marley's Waiata full circle with their interpretation of his legendary songs in Te Reo Maori.

Ruia and Ranea have written, recorded and released Waiata with other Maori Groups including Southside of Bombay (Top 5 Hit 'What's the Time Mr Wolf?') and contributed songs to Moana & The Moahunters albums 'Tahi' and 'Rua'.

In 2001 Ruia and Ranea released their critically acclaimed and big selling 'Whare Maaori' album. With music arranged by Simon Lynch (Ardijah and D-Faction) and production by Maaka McGregor (Aotearoa, Southside of Bombay, Wai), 'Waiata of Bob Marley' is a celebratory tribute to the most influential musician of his time.
