The NZ Society of Authors (PEN NZ Inc) is the principal advocate for the professional interests of New Zealand's writers. Protecting basic rights to freedom of expression, working to improve income and conditions, promoting New Zealand writing and literary culture.
Branches: Northland, Auckland, Central Districts, Wellington, Top of the South, Canterbury and Otago/Southland.
We also run member only programmes such as our mentor programme,manuscript assessment programme and a manuscript appraisal service; administers awards and fellowships; provide advice on aspects of publishing including contracts. We help members negotiate fair contracts with publishers and also assist them in dealing with disputes such as non-payment of royalties etc. Check out our website for more information- authors.org.nz
