New Zealand Society of Authors Te Puni Kaituhi O Aotearoa (PEN NZ Inc) is the principal advocate for the professional interests of New Zealand's writers. Protecting basic rights to freedom of expression, working to improve income and conditions, promoting New Zealand writing and literary culture.
Branches: Northland, Auckland, Central Districts, Wellington, Top of the South, Canterbury and Otago/Southland.
We also run member only programmes such as our mentor programme,manuscript assessment programme and a manuscript appraisal service; administers awards and fellowships; provide advice on aspects of publishing including contracts and run professional development programmes. We advocate for and uphold creative rights and collaborate across the literary sector to ensure writers are able to earn from their work. Check out our website for more information- authors.org.nz
