Seven Songs for a Long Life

Official Selection Doc Edge Festival 2016

Seven Songs for a Long Life

Director Amy Hardie
Duration 80 mins

An intimate story of patients facing their death, told through songs reflecting their dreams, their passions, and their lives.

Who has time to waste on dying? Get on with the singing and dancing!

From the moment Tosh refuses to fill in the social work form and serenades us instead, this documentary grabs life through song. Six hospice patients, a nurse and a fund-raiser at Strathcarron Hospice in Scotland allow us into tender, vulnerable and funny moments in their lives. Singing unlocks the patients’ past, and guides their dreams and their futures. Encouraged by the musically talented staff and an intimate filming process, they deal with their terminal diagnoses with humour and passion for life.
