Sergio Herman, Fucking Perfect

Director Willemiek Kluijfhout
Duration 80 mins

“You can have anything in life if you will sacrifice everything else for it.” — Peter Pan, by James M. Barrie.

For twenty five years, 3 Michelin-star chef Sergio Herman strove for perfection. At the height of his culinary career, he decides to close his famous restaurant Oud Sluis in order to be able to spend more time with his wife and family. After the closure, he finds himself upgrading his second restaurant Pure C, with chef Syrco Bakker, while his brother Michel converts Oud Sluis into an unpretentious bistro. Sergio’s wife takes steps towards starting her own career.

This portrait shows the struggles of a man in transition. The existential questions Sergio faces and the doubts he undergoes are feelings that every ambitious person can identify with. An intense story of perfectionism, ambition and sacrifice.
