bloo/d/runk

A powerful and haunting multidisciplinary solo dance work from emerging Pacific artist Jahra 'Rager' Wasasala.
To premiere a developed season at the Pacific Dance Festival in Auckland, New Zealand/Aotearoa (June 2016).

"I AM NO COUNTRY,
I SEE NO LANDMARKS.
I AM JUST
A MONGREL-MAP IMAGINED."

"BLOO/D/RUNK" IS A ONE WOMAN SOLO DANCE WORK THAT EMBODIES EVERY WOMAN OF COLOUR.
THIS UNAPOLOGETIC BUT DEEPLY SENSITIVE WORK DRAWS INFLUENCE FROM THE GLOBAL EPIDEMIC OF MISSING AND MURDERED INDIGENOUS WOMEN, AS WELL AS INVESTIGATING THE THEMES OF PACIFIC DIASPORA AND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE EARTH AND THE FEMALE FORM.

You can see Bloo/d/runk as part of the Wahinetoa Nights of the Pacific Dance Festival 2016 at Mangere Arts Centre, Wednesday & Thursday 15th & 16th June at 8pm.  Book at Event Finda.
