Aotearoa Surf Film Fest - Call for volunteers
The Aotearoa Surf Film Festival is the first dedicated surf film competition in New Zealand to be held in March 2013. This 4 week festival will run in true kiwi fashion, taking a curated selection of surf feature films, documentaries and short films on a summer roadtrip to the small surf beaches and coastal towns celebrating the best of surf culture, surf cinema and our connection with the environment. The festival is only made possible with the support of passionate volunteers and a small team of dedicated staff.
We are looking for a small number of volunteers to assist us in event management and promotion to get the word out about the festival. Unfortunately all positions are unpaid but we will ensure that all volunteers get tickets to screening events and festival merchandise as well. It is a great opportunity to be involved for any surf enthusiast or budding student interested in film, event management, media and communications.
We need volunteers in the following towns and cities:
Kaitaia, Whangarei, Auckland, Raglan, Whitianga, Whangamata, New Plymouth, Gisborne, Napier, Kaikoura, Christchurch, Dunedin
- Poster circulation and local advertising coverage
- Working with local surf community organisations
- Assistance with box office and festival setup
- Event Photography and videography
We require assistance from mid January through to March, however volunteer hours will be capped at 15 hours unless otherwise stated. The festival will be held during March and may require minimal setup assistance.
- Strong communication skills
- Good organisational skills
- Good computer literacy
- Strong understanding of the local surf community
