Hawke’s Bay Museum & Art Gallery, Napier is one of New Zealand’s leading museums with a reputation for distinctive and award winning exhibitions in the field of twentieth century art, design and architecture. Currently undergoing an extensive redevelopment, HBMAG will reopen with a series of attention-grabbing exhibitions in a new purpose built facility in the latter half of 2013.

We are seeking a dynamic, innovative person to join our organisation as Mount Maker at what is the most challenging and exciting period in our recent history. The Mount Maker is responsible for assisting with the preparation and installation of the opening exhibitions at HBMAG.

Candidates should have experience and skill in the fabrication of mounts for a range of museum objects and possess knowledge of museum mount making principles and practices. Experience in welding, brazing and working with acrylic are essential. Our ideal candidate should have 2-3 years museum or gallery experience in a similar role or a background in art, craft or design. The ability to problem solve, work as part of a team and work well under pressure are necessary.
