The Vic in Devonport is a mixed use community cinema and performing arts space in the heart of Devonport and strive to bring you the best of films, performances, film making and performing arts courses. The Vic will be part of White Night this Auckland Arts Festival ( The Vic will have a cinema experience related to the arts, a video installation that is projected inside and onto the building that will feature water, and they are looking for an artist to engage with the stairwell. The stairwell is four levels high, with beautiful railings, amazing blue carpet and huge glass mirrors. There is a lot of scope for an interactive work or an installation that engages the entire length of the stairwell. This is a great opportunity for an installation artist to be apart of White Night and bring the Vic alive in collaboration with the other artists at the Vic and around Devonport. White Night is held on 16th March from 6pm to midnight right across Auckland city. The artist will be encouraged to keep the installation installed for a week after White Night. Please submit your proposal and curriculum vitae with exhibition biography to Selene Simcox by 5pm, 12th February 2013. Because this is a short and fast call for proposals, expressions of interest will also be taken. Please email enquiries/submissions to or call Selene on 021 169 9084 This opportunity is unpaid, but all advertising will be paid for by The Vic. Below attached, is a photo montage of the stairwell that is the space available for an installation. Feel free to drop into The Vic at 48-56 Victoria Road, Devonport to view it yourself - visit the space and let your creativity run wild.
