The Ministry for Culture and Heritage Manatū Taonga provides advice to government on cultural matters. We fund and support several of the nation’s iconic cultural institutions including Te Papa, the New Zealand Film Commission, TVNZ, the NZSO and Te Matatini.
We also produce award-winning websites including Te Ara - the New Zealand Encyclopedia - and the 28th Māori Battalion and NZHistory websites. We administer significant heritage sites such as war graves and the National War Memorial.
We are looking for a versatile writer with political nous and excellent relationship management skills to be part of our busy Ministerial Speeches and Correspondence Team. The ability to work independently to tight deadlines and meet the expectations of multiple stakeholders is vital for this role.
The Advisor will prepare briefings and draft speech-notes for the Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage, the Minister of Broadcasting, and the Chief Executive of Manatū Taonga, as required. They will also provide draft responses to Ministerial correspondence.
The Adviser will report to the Manager of the Cultural Sector Performance Unit in the Cultural Policy Unit at Manatū Taonga.
