Gallery Co-ordinator and Technician
The Academy of Fine Arts is seeking a Gallery Coordinator and Technician to assist the Curator and Gallery manager in the administration, installation, maintenance and de-installation of exhibitions at its gallery at 1 Queens Wharf in Wellington.
This is a new, part-time position and an exciting opportunity to work for the Academy as it redevelops its exhibition programme, focusing attention on its role as a viable and sustainable arts institution that promotes excellence in the visual arts.
The Gallery Coordinator and Technician must have good time-management skills, first-hand knowledge of Microsoft Office, and experience in the care, handling, packing and installation of art works. An ability to work with images in Photoshop and basic carpentry skills would also be advantageous. The position is for 24 hours per week, with some flexibility required in response to exhibition changeovers. The position also requires co-ordination and supervision of volunteers and an ability to work as a part of a team.
