The Ministry for Culture and Heritage Te Manatū Taonga provides advice to government on cultural matters. We fund and support several of the nation’s iconic cultural institutions including Te Papa, the New Zealand Film Commission, TVNZ, the NZSO and Te Matatini.
We also produce award-winning websites including Te Ara - the New Zealand encyclopedia - and the 28th Māori Battalion and NZHistory websites. We administer significant heritage sites such as war graves and the National War Memorial.
We are looking for a Senior Advisor to be part of our Heritage Operations Unit.
The role has responsibility for providing a high level of operational advice and project management in relation to the administration and review of heritage legislation, servicing the work programme of the Heritage Forum and a wide range of other work undertaken by the Heritage Operations Unit, including maintaining relationships between the ministry and the heritage sector.
The Senior Advisor would be expected to have a relevant tertiary qualification and knowledge of and experience working in the heritage sector. An understanding of government processes is also essential, along with highly developed analytical and interpersonal skills. The Senior Advisor will report to the Manager, Heritage Operations.
