In memory of Lavinia Winter, we invite applications for the 3-week Lavinia Winter Fellowship from women under the age of forty. Applicants could be writers or visual artists (or both), should have a particular creative project in mind, and should be in the early stage of their creative ‘careers’. Selection will be made on the nature of an applicant’s proposed project and the degree to which they will benefit from having the space and time to focus on a project of importance to them.

Please e-mail Programme Manager, Jodie Dalgleish, with the following:

1. Your biography.

2. A description of your proposed project and any specific requirements you may have.

3. A statement of how the Lavinia Winter Fellowship would benefit you at this time.

4. A sample of your writing (no more than 1,500 words) or images of your work (or both).

Applications close midnight, Sunday, 12 October. Dates of residency are open to negotiation, and could occur in the 2014 or 2015 calendar year.

[NPS also offers fee-based residencies. See: http://www.thebigidea.co.nz/work/jobs-opportunities/dance/142964-artist-...

The Lavinia Winter fellow will be in residence for three weeks at the historic Kaiparoro/Normandell House in the Wairarapa. Accommodation is free during this time (normally charged at a rate of $300 per week). The successful Fellow would need to cover the cost of their own travel as well as the costs of their own food while in residence. In addition, they should bring necessary equipment and supplies with them, or liaise with the Programme Manager about purchasing them once in residence.

The Lavinia Winter Fellowship is available to an individual. However, an applicant is welcome to propose a collaborative project, but the Fellowship would only apply to the applicant and additional parties would need to cover the cost of their 3-week residency themselves. Additionally, an applicant is welcome to propose a project of more than three weeks in duration, but accommodation and transportation costs beyond the sponsored three week period would have to be met by the applicant.

The space allocated to the Lavinia Winter Fellow at Kaiparoro House will be decided by the Programme Manager in support of the Fellow’s project and in response to the Fellow’s particular requirements. In addition, opportunities for enrichment through connections with, and involvement in, the local community will be discussed with potential Fellows.

If it is of interest to a Fellow, there is the opportunity to draw on the resources of the Wairarapa Archive during the Fellowship.

Key skills
