Rotorua Museum is pleased to announce the return of the Rotorua Museum Art Awards for 2015. Proudly sponsored by Rotorua Energy Charitable Trust, Friends of Rotorua Museum, More FM and Waiariki Institute of Technology the awards are for any artists currently resident in the Bay of Plenty.

With $13,000 in prizes the 2015 Award Categories are:

 • Rotorua Museum Supreme Award $10,000

 • Friends of Rotorua Museum Emerging Artist Award $1,000

 • Waiariki Institute of Technology Innovation in Art Award $1,000

 • More FM People’s Choice Award $1,000


Key Dates and Information:

 • 4 May 2015 – Entries close 5pm

 • 15 June 2015 – Works to be delivered

 • 19 June 2015 – Awards night and opening of finalists exhibition. Entrants must be at the awards night at Rotorua Museum to be eligible for the prizes

 • 20 June to 13 September 2015 – Exhibition of approximately 30 finalists on display at Rotorua Museum


Entry Size and Presentation:

Entries are limited to a maximum of two works per artist at $40 per entry. Friends of Rotorua Museum members receive 25% discount on the entry fee.

 • The longest side of the work must not exceed 1,000mm (including framing)

 • The work must not weigh more than 30kg

 • Works can be both 2 and 3-dimensional

 • Works can be created in any media except moving image

 • All works must have secure surfaces and be ready for hanging/display


Entering and Eligibility:

As an entrant you must guarantee that:

 • The work is a one-off original and not part of an edition

 • The work does not infringe upon NZ copyright laws

 • The work is the sole work of the artist entering (unless it is listed as a collaboration)

 • The work has been created within the 24 month period prior to and including the date of entry

 • The work has not been exhibited prior to this exhibition and was not entered in the Rotorua Museum Art Awards 2013

 • You are not an employee of Rotorua Museum and are not on the executive committee of The Friends of Rotorua Museum

 • You reside in the Bay of Plenty at the time of entry
