SCAPE Public Art installs public art in Christchurch all year round with a focus on the Annual Seasons. SCAPE Public Art is the Christchurch expert in the installation of public art, and the SCAPE Public Art Seasons are New Zealand's Premier Public Art Events.

SCAPE Public Art moved from its biennial model to an annual, six-week season of Public Art in 2016, launching new works and showcasing the extensive current catalogue of major public artworks.

Over the past 18 years we have become the largest producer of new contemporary artwork in New Zealand. These artworks provide a unique point of difference for the city. Ambitious and high impact, they enhance the urban centre and raise the profile for public art in Christchurch.

We now have fantastic volunteer opportunities for our upcoming Event Season 2016 to support our programmes.  Our event season opens on 1 October – 12 November 2016, with the opening weekend 1 – 2 October.  The dates we have in mind for your support are:

  • Weeks beginning 19 September and 26 November 2016

  • Opening weekend Saturday 1 & Sunday 2 October 2016, (between 9 am – 4 pm – pack in and pack out)

  • Possible assistance with one-off event days during the season (TBA)

Leading up to the opening duties will vary but will include setting up name tags/labels, collating giveaway packs, transportation of gear, general tasks that encompass all that is involved in assisting SCAPE in planning for our annual season event.

For our opening weekend you will assist with packing in/out, handing out give-aways, directing guests to speaker locations/venues over the duration of the opening programme, assist with the BBQ/sausage sizzle, hand out maps/brochures, assist with setting up tea/coffee facilities at the venues, directing patrons/guests to venues and seating plus generally helping out where need be.

What we need from you is great customer service experience, communication and administration skills, the ability to work well as part of a team, be polite and have a sense of humour.  Drivers license essential.
