The 12th Doc Edge International Documentary Film Festival returns to Wellington (10 – 21 May) at The Roxy and Auckland (24 May – 5 June) at Q Theatre with this year’s best documentaries from around the world. 

Alongside the Festival, the 11th Screen Edge Forum (NZ screen industry forum) will run in Wellington (19 May) at Park Road Post and Auckland (27 May) at the University of Auckland. 

Doc Pitch will run on 24 May and Story Edge World Exhibition will run from 24 -26 May at the University of Auckland.

We seek enthusiastic and dynamic volunteers to join the Doc Edge team, these are the positions and tasks:

  • Hospitality: Outgoing people with a friendly attitude to look after the festival’s guests. Be acquainted with the festival program and the films (at least the ones which are playing during your shifts). You’ll might have to engage in cash transactions. 
  • Festival Hub/Guide: To assist with manning our festival Hub and to provide assistance and information to guests and audiences. You should enjoy working with people. While not essential, you should have an interest or background in film/documentary. 
  • Story Edge Hospitality (Auckland only): You will manage audiences viewing or interacting with exhibits, providing assistance and information. It will be useful but not essential that you have a background and interest in new media technologies including virtual reality, augmented reality and interactive projects.
  • Drivers: Airport transfers and local transport for international filmmakers, program distribution. There are requirements for this position. 
  • Digital projectionists: Operating festival screenings and forum sessions. For this function we’re looking for people with specific skills, visit our website to view a more detailed description of the volunteer positions.
  • Production assistants/runners: to support the festival and forum events.
  • Ushers (only in Wellington).

What we expect from our volunteers:

  • Reliability
  • To work at least six shifts
  • To show up on time
  • Be enthusiastic and hard-working
