Proposals are invited for the conducting of an arts and culture needs assessment on Waiheke Island. The purpose of the arts and culture needs assessment is to identify the needs of communities on Waiheke in relation to the arts and facility provision at the Artworks Precinct, with a view to identifying gaps and opportunities for any future development of the complex.

The assessment is intended to be used as a strategic planning tool for the Waiheke Local Board to support the provision of arts and culture in the short, medium and long term.

A budget of $15,000 has been allocated to fund this assessment.

Proposals are due on or before 4 September 2017 and require a detailed outline of the specific approach and methodology that would be used when conducting this assessment.

The assessment will include but not be limited to the following:

  • an assessment of community needs in relation to arts programming and services in the catchment area
  • an analysis of the current levels of provision (at Artworks and wider)
  • identification of opportunities and barriers for accessing arts in the community
  • consultation and engagement with community and stakeholders on need and what could be provided in a redeveloped Artworks complex
  • an analysis of strategic context including the Auckland Plan, Waiheke Local Board Plan and Auckland’s Arts and Culture Strategic Action Plan, Toi Whītiki
  • options to address any identified needs for arts in the short, medium and long term

Proposals will be assessed using the following criteria:

  • Previous experience
  • Strategic approach
  • Detailed methodology
