Call for Applications: Gallery Manager
Blue Oyster is looking for a new Gallery Manager to join our team. As a stepping-stone into arts administration, this role will provide opportunities to learn and experience all aspects of gallery practice within a contemporary and experimental project space environment.
Based in Dunedin, Blue Oyster Art Project Space exists to enable emerging and experimental artists, writers and curators to work free from commercial restraints. For 18 years our organisation has aimed to broaden engagement with contemporary art by providing a diverse and energetic forum for critical dialogue around a yearly programme of exhibitions, projects, events and publications. The Gallery Manager is responsible for the day-to-day running of the gallery, assisting the Director in realising the strategic vision and goals for the gallery and enabling individual artists to generate high quality and critically engaging projects. This role would suit someone who has an education in the arts and is interested in pursuing a career in contemporary art. Working in a gallery or similar environment with a range of artists, writers, curators and the public, the role centrally provides opportunities to use and gain new skills in the running and administration of the gallery, with room to develop and extend on your own interests alongside these main tasks.
