Position: Media & PR Assistant
Reporting to: Media & PR Manager

The principal objective of this position is to work closely with the Festival’s Media & PR Manager to maximize publicity for the Auckland Arts Festival 2018 (8 – 25 March).

The position is full time and fixed term, from 8th January to 29th March 2018.

Normal hours of work will be 40 hours per week, between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. Extra hours will be required immediately prior to and during the Festival, including weekends.

Required skills and experience
• Experience in coordinating PR campaigns
• Understanding of media; being an active media user (preferably Auckland media literate, including online)
• Experience with photo resizing
• Events support and planning experience (preferred)
• Highly organised
• Experience in writing for media, communications and/or marketing
• Understanding of press material use
• Experience in media monitoring and reporting
• Media relationships/contacts (preferred)
• Good computer skills, especially Word, Excel and Outlook
• Passion for the arts
• Common sense, a sense of occasion, a can-do attitude and plenty of energy

Publicity support
1. Providing info and images for events listings, what’s on pages and in-briefs
2. Following up requests from press for images, resizing when required
3. Chasing/reformatting artists’ bios
4. Artist liaison as required
5. Interview briefing and attendance as requested by Media & PR Manager
6. Pitching as required

Event support
7. Assisting with events, media calls, opening nights and other activities as required
8. Coordination of photographers and videographers
9. Management of media tickets
10. Runner during the festival

11. Write press materials
12. Prepare interview briefing materials
13. Write social media posts

13. Update media lists
14. Media monitoring and reporting

15. Other duties as required.
