We are setting up a record and clothing label, based in a shop in Grey Lynn in a shared creative space. We would like other clothing designers to come on board to collaborate and help us organise fashion shows and pop up shop events. This will initially be a volunteer position but you will have the opportunity to exhibit your work and get your collection in our shop and pop up events. We are looking for New Zealand designers who primarily work with natural fabrics, innovative wearable art and costume designers, lingerie, sleep wear and T Shirt designers, pattern makers and sewers. All ethnicities, genders and sexual orientations welcome as well as people with disabilities. We aim to create a supportive collaborative environment for alternative practitioners to showcase their work. We are looking for people who can work independently, work to a deadline, brainstorm ideas and take ownership of their own projects. Coordination and leadership skills a bonus. Ideally the person will have a fashion design or pattern making qualification or equivalent experience and will be a self starter who can pitch in and spend some time helping up get this label off the ground and in coordinating and organising events. In exchange we will assist them with their own brand development and in establishing their own label and with other career development opportunities as well as the opportunity to showcase their collections and be part of a cooperative.
