Ara Institute of Canterbury is a progressive tertiary institute providing world-class education throughout the Canterbury and Waitaki region. Our talented staff, innovative business collaborators and supportive community partners are passionate about the role they play in our students' success.

Sitting with the Creative Industries department at Ara, the information design qualifications have been taught 100% online in the institution for more than two decades. Over the last year, two new programmes (one a graduate certificate and one a graduate diploma) have been developed in response to the needs of potential students and the industry. The department is now in the position to expand the delivery team to meet the expected demand for these refreshed programmes.

The role

You will be participating in the design and delivery of new courses in collaboration with the Team Leader and other departmental staff. You will be responsible for online teaching, the preparation of resources, ensuring student success and some liaison with industry.

Skills/ experience

  • Tertiary level qualification in the Information Design, User Experience, or related discipline
  • Skills in writing, editing, visual language, web-based delivery of information systems, information architecture and/or knowledge management
  • An Ara-recognised teaching qualification or a willingness to complete a level 5 or higher tertiary teaching qualification
  • Experience in the field of information design, technical communication, usability studies and/or related fields
