  • Cultural Heart of Christchurch
  • Unique Gothic Revival Buildings
  • Future Focus - Supercharge the Repopulation

The Arts Centre buildings have a rich history – one that now includes their extensive restoration following the Canterbury earthquakes.  An independent charity, the Arts Centre belongs to the people of Canterbury and is held in trust for them as a place for arts, culture, education and creativity. With its post-earthquake restoration now past the half-way mark, it is reclaiming its place once again as Christchurch’s hub for cultural events and creative entrepreneursh.

Reporting to the Trust Board, and supported by an experienced, capable and enthusiastic team, the CEO will provide strong strategic and operational leadership, leading the organisation through a major fundraising campaign over the next three years as well as the timely and cost-effective management of the repopulation, restoration and earthquake strengthening of buildings.

An inspirational senior leader, you will have a demonstrated track record of coaching and developing others, influencing stakeholders and getting things done. You will have experience in or an understanding of “placemaking” – populating a large venue with quality arts-oriented events, tenants and visitors.  You will bring expertise in leading teams through successful fundraising campaigns, sponsorship and relationship management and be known for your ability to connect meaningfully with multiple stakeholders and influence decision–makers. A strong negotiator, you will also be skilled in providing oversight to all aspects of stewardship of high-value property including leasing, financing, capital project and property asset management.  Experience in reporting to and providing resources for a board would also be advantageous.

We view this as a unique leadership opportunity to breathe life into the cultural heart of the Christchurch community.
