3 Museum digitisation positions - Southland
(2 year fixed term)
On behalf of the Southland Regional Heritage Committee, the Gore District Council invites applications from interested people to catalogue small museum collections in Southland as part of a two-year digitisation pilot called Project Ark. The project involves cataloguing collections using eHive, imaging, marking and packing museum collections.
The following positions will start on 2 July 2018 for a fixed term of 24 months.
1. Lead Cataloguer – will be an experienced collections manager to co-ordinate the team and volunteers. In addition to cataloguing the lead cataloguer will organise work flow and ensure delivery of the project’s standards.
2. Collections Cataloguer - involves cataloguing, imaging, marking and packing heritage collections.
3. Collections Photographer/Cataloguer – will be a cataloguer with studio photography skills and the ability to control flash lighting to produce quality images of heritage objects.
The above positions will form a roving team with a work vehicle provided.
Project Ark is designed to provide a strategic, regional approach to small museum collection management and the positions are at the heart of this initiative.
