On behalf of the Southland Regional Heritage Committee, the Gore District Council invites applications from interested people to catalogue small museum collections in Southland as part of a two-year digitisation pilot called Project Ark. The project involves cataloguing collections using eHive, imaging, marking and packing museum collections.

The following positions will start on 2 July 2018 for a fixed term of 24 months.

1. Lead Cataloguer – will be an experienced collections manager to co-ordinate the team and volunteers. In addition to cataloguing the lead cataloguer will organise work flow and ensure delivery of the project’s standards.

2. Collections Cataloguer - involves cataloguing, imaging, marking and packing heritage collections.

3. Collections Photographer/Cataloguer – will be a cataloguer with studio photography skills and the ability to control flash lighting to produce quality images of heritage objects.

The above positions will form a roving team with a work vehicle provided.

Project Ark is designed to provide a strategic, regional approach to small museum collection management and the positions are at the heart of this initiative.
