Pukeko Pictures is a Wellington-based independent entertainment production company focused on the development and production of world-class, multi-platform entertainment for a global audience. We are growing and scaling-up our production capacity and we’re looking for a full-time intermediate python programmer to grow with us.

The Pukeko tech team exists to make sure that our creative colleagues are always equipped with the tools they need, and that the whole of Pukeko is served in a way that supports our thriving creative culture.

We need to develop production workflow tools to help our production teams manage the complexity of creating animated content and to support our artist with automation and tracking tools. If you don’t have VFX/Animation TD  experience, that’s okay, this is not a role that requires extensive experience in VFX and Animation tools.

Although you will be supported by a small international TD team and will work within a technical department, you’ll be the sole Wellington-based developer. You’ll be well supported within the organisation, but you’ll need to be comfortable working on your own. We will support your continuing development both within the animation/VFX domain and in your coding skills.

As an intermediate programmer, you won’t lead or mentor juniors but you will need the confidence to make some decisions independently and to seek input from the wider team when necessary. We’re looking for someone who has strong opinions, loosely held; who writes code that conforms to a stye guide and defined design-patterns, and who thrives on code reviews and a collaboration-first culture.

We are open to flexible work arrangements.

You’re good at:

  • Python

  • Django

Extra awesome

  • NoSQL

  • Shotgun Studio

  • PySide/QT/Electron

Super awesome

  • C++

  • Celery/rabbitMQ

  • Some devops (Docker)

  • Experience in Animation pipelines

This job is not for graduates or juniors, but get in touch you’re a Senior Coder or Architect who wants to jump into the screen industry.

Applications close June 18th
