New Zealand Comedy Trust are seeking additional Board members.

The New Zealand Comedy Trust is a not-for-profit charitable organisation - with a focus on championing the art of laughter so that more people laugh more often.

For 25 years, we’ve passionately showcased the most exciting comedians from both New Zealand and throughout the world at the annual NZ International Comedy Festival.

What you may not realise, is our team also works to support the wider comedy industry, with a specific focus on working with comedians to professionally develop their skills, network and establish themselves a career in comedy.

We’ve created a range of professional development programmes to help achieve this, including the Billy T Award, Class Comedians, The Fred Award, Comedy Lab, the Creative Comedy Project Grant, and Dialogue.

We’re looking to add three to four roles to our current team of Board members. These roles are unpaid voluntary positions.

Do you have a passion for comedy and expertise in any of these areas?

  • Producing
  • Communications
  • Business Acumen
  • Broadcasting

An understanding of New Zealand Comedy or the Performing Arts sector in New Zealand would be advantageous. Strong Communication skills, the ability to cultivate healthy working relationships, facilitation skills, integrity and an ability to work equally within a team are also seen as required strengths.

Ideally new Board members would have some previous experience with governance on a non-profit Board. It would also be useful to have leadership skills and be able to bring some wider networks and community influence to the Board.

Board members are expected to make it a priority to attend each Board meeting. Meetings are usually held every month, but this can vary depending on the needs of the Trust. We’d also love you to attend key shows at the Comedy Festival.

Selection Process

If you are interested we’d love to hear from you. Please register your interest by sending in your CV and a cover letter outlining why you would like to be on the New Zealand Comedy Trust Board. The current Board will consider the applications, and interview over the phone or in person as appropriate. The Board will notify all applicants of their decision in a timely manner.
