Pakuranga Rotary has partnered with Auckland Council to co-commission a new artwork for the Pakuranga Rotary Walkway at Bramley Reserve in Pakuranga.
The proposed artwork will be enjoyed by the community of Pakuranga and the many visitors to the Rotary walkway. We are looking for an artwork concept that is site-specific, responds to the area and draws on the themes of service underpinning Rotary’s work. Please refer to the objectives listed below. It will be located on Sanctuary Point in Sunnyhills, Pakuranga.
We are seeking expressions of interest from artists who are interested in the area and this opportunity. On selection, the artist will be contracted to develop a concept for a standalone artwork to be delivered by February 2020.
About the site:
The Pakuranga Rotary Walkway is a very popular walk or ride stretching 9km from Prince Regent Drive in Farm Cove to the Panmure Bridge. The path weaves past the Pakuranga Sailing Club and offers great views up and down the Tamaki River.
The artwork is intended to celebrate 50 years of Pakuranga Rotary service in this area, which will be commemorated in March 2020. The Pakuranga Rotary’s aim for this artwork is to be the first in a public art trail it hopes to establish along the Rotary walkway.
Objectives for the proposed artwork:
Expressions of interest are welcome from both individual artists and collectives.
You must submit your application online by midnight Thursday 28 February, 2019.
