DOC EDGE PITCH 2019

The 13th Doc Edge Pitch 2019 will take place in Auckland on Friday, 7 June 2019 as part of the Doc Edge Forum.

Doc Edge invites all documentary filmmakers working on a project and seeking financing and/or co-production opportunities to submit their project using the Doc Edge Pitch 2019 Entry Form.

Up to 15 projects will be selected. The selected finalists will be given the opportunity to develop their projects, trailers and pitching skills through a series of Doc Clinics with mentoring from film professionals. The finalists will pitch their project to a panel of domestic and international commissioning editors, distributors, producers, broadcasters and funding agencies.

AWARDS

The winner of the Best Pitch will receive a $15,000 prize package which includes cash, services and mentoring. More details to be announced.

PROJECTS

Doc Edge Pitch seeks projects with international appeal, challenging/innovative subject matter and treatment/delivery with co-production potential. Projects that push creative boundaries and/or have multi-platform potential are highly encouraged.

Applications are open for the following categories:
- Feature (over 40’) festival documentary 
- Television documentary series 
- Short (up to 39’) festival documentary

Doc Edge Pitch is looking for fresh and innovative projects that:
• Are in late development or early pre-production 
• Are contemporary with diverse characters and voices
• Are compelling character-driven stories with a complete story-arc & strong narrative structure 
• Have a broad audience appeal and are globally relevant
• Are led by actuality/action rather than interviews/talking heads 
• Champion social justice and/or social change with purpose and impact
• Have a strong social media and marketing campaign
• Have high production values

DOC EDGE CLINICS

In order to assist in the development of the pitching projects and to upskill filmmakers in the art of pitching, Doc Edge offers a series of Clinics throughout the year. 
The Clinics are a great way to get more guidance, insight and knowledge from experienced film professionals.

DOC EDGE CLINICS #1 & 2

If you are interested in applying to Doc Edge Pitch, you are invited to register for two introductory Doc Edge Clinics: 
Saturday, 23 February 2019 10am – 1pm
Saturday, 23 March 2019 10am – 1pm

DOC EDGE CLINICS #3 & 4
*Closed sessions for selected Doc Edge Pitch finalists
Selected projects are required to attend a series of two Clinics.

Saturday, 4 May 2019 10am – 1pm
Saturday, 18 May 2019 10am – 1pm
*These two Clinics are mandatory to attend

DOC EDGE CLINICS #5 & 6
For all filmmakers 
These Clinics will cover production, delivery and distribution.
Saturday, 27 July 2019 10am – 1pm
Saturday, 27 September 2019 10am – 1pm

DEADLINE

Please submit your project by the submission deadline of Friday, 29 March 2019.

Successful applicants will be notified by Thursday, 18 April 2019.

3. One registration to Doc Edge Forum 2019
