 Primary Duties, Responsibilities and Person Specifications: 

  • To provide direct assistance to the Gallery Curator
  • Alongside the Gallery Curator, to maintain a professionally presented gallery
  • To nurture and maintain relationships with artists across all forms of Māori Art including Tumu and Students of NZMACI
  • Understands the standard required for Āhua Gallery, and maintains the highest standards of presentation of the taonga within
  • A strategic thinker
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of Toi Māori, Te Reo me ona tikanga
  • At least 5 years experience in a role where Toi Māori and the presentation of high end artefacts, cataloguing and storage were common
  • Experience using the Vernon system of cataloguing would be highly advantageous
  • Experience using Eftpos systems
  • Fully committed to the values, vision and kaupapa of NZMACI|Te Puia
  • Strong networks within Toi Māori and Te Ao Māori
  • An ability to market and sell high end artefacts
  • Manuhiri First focused.
  • Pride in place and pride in self as a representative of NZMACI|Te Puia.



Primary Duties, Responsibilities and Person Specifications:

  • Responsibility to ensure quality delivery and finish across all casting and foundry process elements
  • To assist the welding process within the Foundry
  • To work across all foundry practices when required (Front of house and Back of house studios)
  • To be able to work in “Front of House” on smaller cast products independently and engage with manuhiri
  • To assist in implementing the strategic plan within the foundry and greater Wānanga vision
  • To assist NZMACI with dewaxing and bronze pour
  • To provide welding and casting support (fixing various mistakes)
  • To provide engineering skills, in particular welding (steel framework) to objects/taonga being created by the foundry team
  • To provide manaakitanga to our manuhiri; and consideration of their visitor experience.
  • To assist in maintaining a high level of Health and Safety practices within the Foundry and greater Wānanga facilities
  • Must have at least one year experience in casting or equivalent related industry
  • Must have experience in project management or similar
  • Has the ability to adapt in testing situations. Is agile.
