DIRT - incorporated?
We are inviting expressions of interest in new members joining our creative advocacy project; DIRT. Potential contributors can do this by applying to become a member of our board, by joining our active facilitator team, or through becoming a member of our Incorporated Society. DIRT is restructuring and transitioning into a non-profit Incorporated Society, so that we can better insure growth, inclusion, dynamism and diversity within our public programme, artist advocacy & support services. We seek to get better at showcasing the voices of creative practitioners who are underrepresented. To do so we need diversity coming from within the centre of our vision and kaupapa. Those interested in joining DIRT in any capacity would be committing to help develop and diversify our future aims and goals, and thereby who and what we foster within Aotearoa and abroad.
What is DIRT? DIRT Gallery "...navigates the boundary between digital and physical space, identifying new environments to showcase art and related projects." DIRT differs from traditional gallery institutions, as it is hosted almost entirely online. DIRT is concerned with shifting the current lack of access to critical and experimental art projects, creating nurturing relationships with artists and making space where there was none before, and sharing a multitude of creative languages. We believe that digitizing these environments could mean they are more accessible to a wider audience - outside of the academic framework accompanying contemporary gallery settings.
