NZ Sculpture OnShore is one of New Zealand’s pre-eminent outdoor sculpture exhibitions which  showcases the work of both established and emerging artists. Owned by The Friends of Women’s Refuge Trust, it has raised nearly $2,000,000 for Women’s Refuge through biennial exhibitions over the past 22 years.

Due to the growth and success of the event, the Board have made a decision to appoint a General Manager. Reporting to the Board, this person will have overall accountability for the management of NZ Sculpture OnShore to ensure the on-going viability of the business through the successful co-ordination and execution of the biennial sculpture events. They will lead a total team of 11 people with a revenue budget exceeding $500,000 over the 2019/2020 period. Employment will commence in June 2019 and end in December 2020 with a potential right of renewal pending a Board review of the success of the new structure.

Key outputs of the role will be:

  • To develop and deliver a company business plan which enables the achievement of the organisation’s strategic plan
  • To engage all stakeholders in such a way that they become and remain fully committed to the organisation
  • To develop and implement a revenue plan, including corporate sponsorship and funding applications,  which enables the achievement of strategic financial targets
  • To manage the  event to achieve financial and  brand and image targets and aspirations
  • To formulate the annual company budget
  • To exemplify and champion the culture and values of the organisation

The person we are looking for will have:

  • A proven ability to generate and increase sponsorship and general revenue
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to create and implement an annual business plan
  • Excellent people engagement skills
  • Good public speaking skills
  • A minimum of three years event/project or arts management skills and experience
  • An advanced understanding of sponsorship engagement , relationship management and funding application processes
