He angitūtanga: The opportunity
The Arts, Community and Events (ACE) department contributes to the wellbeing and vibrancy of Auckland, endeavouring to ensure that all Aucklanders are actively engaged and participating in community life. Our vision is to enable connected, creative communities. We work closely with Aucklanders to provide services, programmes, events and facilities that strengthen and connect communities and create a sense of belonging and pride.
There is an exciting opportunity for a Commercial and Community Sponsorship Manager to join ACE working with the Arts and Culture and Events teams. Your role will be to identify, secure, activate and maintain strategic partnerships and sponsorship opportunities for our wide range of regional festivals and event programmes, such as Music and Movies in Parks, Auckland Heritage Festival, Matariki Festival and much more.
You will effectively manage relationships across the portfolio, so that key outcomes are achieved for all parties and relationships are strengthened to sustain ongoing partnerships.

You will have outstanding interpersonal skills enabling you to confidently connect with a diverse range of stakeholders. You will have proven sponsorship/partnership experience and some understanding of the diverse communities of Auckland. You have event management, marketing or sales expertise and ideally some knowledge of the Auckland events industry, arts and culture sector, private sector sponsorship trends and funding agencies. Politically and commercially savvy, you will be outcomes focussed, a big picture thinker and someone who can take the initiative.

You will be able to work autonomously, creating and developing your portfolio whilst working alongside your events and arts and culture colleagues to align and activate partnerships, with support from council’s Strategic Partnerships team. Working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, you will have flexibility and the exciting prospect of attending and working at our weekend events during our peak seasons.
