Over the past 12 years, I have worked in countless projects & briefs creating visual content for NZ & international clients in advertising & entertainment. As my dislike for Monday-to-Friday gigs & Auckland traffic grew deeper, I decided to freelance from my home studio as a creative content maker, specifically directing/producing live & animation/motion graphics videos for ads on TV, social media, & branding content.
In addition to that, I do have a soft spot for music video making, typography & portrait photography. Not only is it the best way to flex one’s creative muscles, such non-commercial & up-sellable content is what often attracts clients. Now, the time has come to expand & attract new ones!
Looking for an opportunities hunter & connections gatherer; someone with an appetite for creative solutions & fingers on the pulse of cool & current stuff. This commission-based opportunity will suit advertising/marketing types who are keen on planting seeds, striking deals, & making some money along the way. You could be an ex-suit/producer who’s over the nine-to-five agency madness, a returning-to-work mother with a few hours to spare, a Jack-of-many-trades with a book full of contacts, a band manager with connections in the music scene, a natural client-charmer into making stuff happen. You got the picture!
While working at your own pace, your role is simply to approach potential clients & score a brief/commission for an exciting project: a one-minute brand video for social media, a new promo with a re-brand & a photoshoot, an instructional animation for a new product or service, whatever it is. With my creative Swiss army knife & a roster of hired guns (when needed), anything is achievable.
With your divining rods that detect opportunities & connections, you will find product makers & service providers who are after top quality video & branding content, & re-educate them on how such content doesn’t necessarily come with a hefty price tag charged by a fancy, premium-located ad agency.
& if you have more time to spare, you can even produce it & manage the client too. It is up to you to decide the level of involvement (anywhere between an agent-ish role, to a partner in a micro agency set up), which will be reflected on the commission.
