The Lake House Arts Trust Board is seeking expressions of interest for two Board Members/Trustees to serve on the Board of Trustees.
The Lake House Trust operates Lake House Arts Centre to provide an accessible heritage facility, where vibrant and diverse community, arts and culture can flourish. The Lake House is one of the top five most visited Arts Partner Organisations of Auckland Council.
Lake House Arts has a long and proud history as a provider of community arts and cultural services on the North Shore. Our vision is: to celebrate, innovate and elevate our diverse arts and culture practices for the benefit of the entire community, to honour the history and heritage of the buildings and community and to provide a sustainable legacy of arts and culture accessible to the whole community.
The Lake House Arts Centre is also a venue for hire, houses resident artists and arts and culture organisations, operates arts and culture classes, events and activities and sells art. It builds and maintains relationships with key partners in the arts, cultural, business, education and community sectors in order to achieve its objectives. The Board has two members who are rotating off the Board and is now looking for two new Board members, who are interested in gaining governance experience in the arts sector.
Particular Skills/ competencies sought:
- Sound judgement, critical thinking and strategic decision-making skills
- Enthusiasm for and a genuine interest in the work of Lake House Arts
- Commercial acumen
- Some previous governance experience would be helpful, however, this could be gained through serving as a board member
- Role One – CA/CPA qualified and able to Chair the Finance & Audit subcommittee
- Role Two – Legal knowledge/ background is preferred
The board meets six weekly for up to 2 hours on a Monday evening. Board members are also expected to join and actively participate in one of the five subcommittees of the board. Board members are encouraged to attend events at the centre as and when they can.

The Board is keen to consider potential trustees from diverse backgrounds.
Appointments will take effect from August 2019.
