The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (APO) is seeking a passionate and organised individual to facilitate delivery of aspects of the APO Connecting Education programme.

APO Connecting is the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra’s education, community and outreach programme which engages over 20,000 people of all ages across Auckland every year. APO Connecting brings together our professional players with schools, individuals and communities in a flagship programme that is widely applauded by educators and community leaders. Through the APO Connecting programme we inspire young musicians, connect music makers and music lovers of the present and the future, and offer concerts, workshops and tutorials for young people across all ages and ethnicities.

The role of the APO Connecting Education Programmes Facilitator will be to support the delivery of key educational events throughout the year and also effectuate the smooth workings of the APO Partnership Schools programme, APOPS. This dynamic and fast paced role includes working across the organisation with all departments and with external organisations in the greater Auckland region education sector including Te Kura Kaupapa Māori. Supporting the wider aims of APO Connecting will be a key part of this position.

To be successful in this role you will need to have: a passion for, and familiarity with, performance arts in New Zealand; be confident in communicating with a variety of people from all walks of life; be adept at building relationships with collaborative partners across the education sector; and a willingness to work in a flexible and dynamic work environment. A key aspect of this role is to be able to organise several concurrent events with schools throughout the course of the year.

Successful applicants will need to demonstrate excellent communication in all forms of spoken and written English and strong spreadsheet skills. A solid understanding of education processes, experience in community and/or outreach programmes, and an understanding reporting to funders is desired. A passion for your work is essential.
