The Govett Brewster Art Gallery is New Zealand's first and only museum of contemporary art. The latest addition to the Govett-Brewster, the Len Lye Centre, opened in 2015, is New Zealand's first institution dedicated to a single artist, the pioneering filmmaker and kinetic sculptor, Len Lye. The two venues offer complementary and contrasting programmes featuring the most provocative, audacious and confident works of art from New Zealand, the Pacific and around the world.

We have an exciting opportunity for a person with a collaborative outlook and ability to thrive in a dynamic environment to join the team in the role of Curatorial Assistant Public Engagement. Reporting to the Public Engagement Coordinator, the purpose of this role is to assist with the development and delivery of Govett-Brewster Art Gallery/Len Lye Centre's public programmes, attracting a diverse range of audiences, as well as assisting with outreach activities.

Your focus will be ensuring best practice experiences for stakeholders, students and audiences by supporting the Public Engagement Coordinator and completing administrative duties as required. Educational activities and programmes are a key focus area for our Public Engagement team so you will need to be tech savvy and highly organized. You will also have the opportunity to coordinate and contribute to the public programme planning and delivery. You will be an accomplished communicator with sound interpersonal skills and a professional warm approach, showcasing your ability to form strong relationships with a diverse range of people.

To be successful in this role, you will have experience in working in an art institution and a relevant tertiary qualification. Knowledge of the Arts Curriculum and education would be advantageous. Most importantly, you will be a team player with excellent organisational skills and a strong capability in research, writing and administrative duties.
