Salary indication: Part-time, 4 days a week, 57,000 - 59,000 NZD
(Full-time equivalent of $75,000 NZD)
New opportunity for strategic management role future proofing one of Aotearoa’s most exciting contemporary art organisations in the heart of Tamaki Makaurau.
Having recently secured public funding from 2020 onwards, Artspace Aotearoa is looking forward to the next six years of its journey and is looking to fill in a newly created role of Manahautū Deputy Director. A major development will be its move from its current location to a new space that will offer new programme opportunities. Alongside this change the operations of Artspace Aotearoa will radically change. Therefore a new leadership position is required to join the Artspace Aotearoa team who will handle and deliver the business side of our operations, specifically outlined in the strategy for the next 6 years.
This new position of Manahautū - Deputy Director, will assist the Kaitohu - Director in the delivery of all administrative and non-programmatic strategies. Guided by Te Ara Tipu - Artspace Aotearoa Strategic Plan and the Kaitohu - Director, you will identify business priorities, establish and deliver dynamic new business development initiatives that fortify Artspace Aotearoa as an independent and resilient entity.

This newly created position is incredibly exciting for us. This is an opportunity to directly contribute to the revitalisation of Artspace Aotearoa. The role has scope to design your own projects, supported through artistic and strategic guidance from the Kaitohu Director and the Artspace Aotearoa Trust Board. Implicit in the role is a deep understanding and commitment to cultural safety, biculturalism and multiculturalism. Experience in leading the delivery of both the strategic outcomes and operational outcomes in reference to the Artspace Aotearoa Strategic Plan Te Ara Tipu.

BUILD CAPABILITY AND CAPACITY:
Ensuring the right structures and skills are in the right place at the right time
Experience in managing small teams to support a vibrant creative culture and deliver results.
A track record of high-level stakeholder management skills -– customers, manufacturers and 3PL logistics teams.
Highly resilient, able to work in a highly stressed environment.
Can build ideas, solutions and frameworks that inspire people.
Experienced in Health and Safety policy and management.
DRIVE DYNAMIC DEVELOPMENT:
Quality systems and processes that support dynamic development of the arts
A strong track record of securing and managing funding for charitable or NGO activities from a variety of funding streams, preferably in the arts.
Demonstrated expertise in managing sophisticated processes through to completion.
Experience in managing a medium size non-profit trust and the required reporting to a Trust Board.
Central to the role is keeping our organisation financially healthy, coordinating staff and office operations via a relationship to the Artspace Aotearoa programme operations. The Manahautū Deputy Director holds financial, facilities, human resources, and commercial accountability. The person we seek will be an all-rounder with an affinity for contemporary art, be organised, considered and ready to take on new opportunities.
