Tim Bray Theatre Company is seeking trustees who believe in the power of children’s theatre. This is a special opportunity to become part of an organisation whose purpose is to inspire children and young people of all backgrounds and abilities to be confident and creative through New Zealand theatre. Our driving purpose is to fire young imaginations and ignite the creative minds of tomorrow, deepening and expanding their cultural awareness as we do so.
About the company
Tim Bray Theatre Company was established in 1991. Since that date, the company has entertained and educated tens of thousands of children and young people through New Zealand theatre. The company is governed by a charitable trust, The Operating Theatre Trust.
A new strategic plan was agreed in 2018, and good progress has been made in its delivery. The Trust board is now seeking new trustees to drive the strategy in line with the three goals of the organisation:
- To achieve business sustainability
- To reach more children and young people
- To evolve creative practice
More details about the company can be found here: www.timbray.org.nz
We are very interested in hearing from people who:
- Are interested in the performing arts
- Understand the education sector and the learning needs of children and young people
- Have experience of working in Auckland’s diverse communities
- Can guide the company in its commitment to fostering a bi-cultural approach
It would be advantageous if you have some experience on one of the following areas:
- Business development and finance
Most crucially, we are looking for people who are great team players and will bring fresh perspectives and diverse thinking to the board.
This is the first stage of board renewal. We are aiming to appoint two new trustees in this phase. Appointment terms are for three years in the first instance and can commence at a time to suit both parties. This is not a remunerated position but it is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference to a small, impactful organisation and to develop your governance practice.
