Choral Accompanist wanted, starting February 2020 (negotiable)

Hamilton Civic Choir has delighted national and international audiences with concerts of great choral music performed at the highest musical standards since 1946.

Our mission is: “To continue to be Hamilton’s premier classical choir, regularly presenting the world’s greatest choral music, at the highest possible standard, to the people of the Waikato and beyond for the mutual enjoyment and enrichment of choir and audience.”

Under the artistic leadership of Timothy Carpenter, the organisation produces a series of concerts each year in the wider Waikato area with concert performances also in Auckland.

Being a fully auditioned choir with approximately 50 singers ranging in age from early 20’s to mid 80’s,  we are able to perform works outside the scope of many community-based choirs. Our music is an eclectic mix of art choral music, symphonic choral and acapella chamber. See our website hamiltoncivicchoir.org.nz or youtube channel for what we have been singing the last couple of years.

We are looking for a piano accompanist, preferably with some choral accompanying experience to play for rehearsals and concerts, lead the occasional rehearsal and take some sectionals.

The choir rehearses every Monday night from 7:15-9:30pm in central Hamilton and  produces roughly four to five weekend concerts each year and alongside that has several weekend workshops that you would be expected to attend.

You will have an excellent sight-reading ability, high level of piano playing ability, a sense of fun and commitment to our mission.
