Introduction:

Christchurch City Choir aims to be the principal symphonic choir in Canterbury and has over 70 auditioned, singing members. Established 28 years ago from the merger of two long-standing choirs, it performs throughout the year with various orchestras and soloists, and to large audiences. Christchurch City Choir is an Incorporated Society and registered charity no. CC25053.

We are looking for a new Choir Manager to be responsible for organising, co-ordinating and maintaining all aspects of concert management including engagement of soloists and all other necessary services. The role also includes office management, general choir management and involvement in pursuing sponsorship, choir marketing and our concert promotion.

Ideally, candidates will have experience in organising a choir or orchestra.

The Choir Manager will report to the Choir Board and work closely with the choir's administrative staff and singing members.

The Choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings, with additional rehearsals during concert week. It has major concert performances to paying audiences 3-5 times per year and also takes part in concerts of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. The next major performance will be the Bach St Matthew Passion 4 April in the Town Hall, with others in June, September and Handel’s Messiah in December.
