Lead creatively: Creative Waikato Board Member
Creative Waikato is looking for new board members. Here’s your chance to get involved with a motivated team of game-changers who are working to enable community wellbeing through the creative sector.
Creative Waikato Board
Governance of Creative Waikato is vested in a Board made up of seven to nine elected trustees. Trustees are appointed through an annual appointment process for a three-year term, are eligible for re-appointment, and can serve a maximum of nine consecutive years on the Board.
Appointed Trustees cover the following areas: Māori, regional representation, various arts sectors, gender balance, professional arts and community arts. The Board also ensures it has combined expertise in governance experience, thorough knowledge of the arts sector, strong networks and financial skills.
The Board operates to proficient governance standards, and is well supported by the very capable Creative Waikato management team.
Particular skills/competencies sought
The current Board are looking for expressions of interest, which will remain open until 28 February 2020.
The ideal candidate(s) will have:
- A strong understanding and appreciation of the arts
- A regional focus
- A comprehensive understanding of Te Ao Māori
- An understanding of how arts and creativity enable community wellbeing
Preferably, the ideal candidate(s) will also have:
- Strong regional connections that can help grow Creative Waikato endeavors
- Governance experience or aptitude
Applicants are welcome from across the Creative Waikato region.
Meetings are held monthly on Friday mornings, in Hamilton, and are scheduled for 2 hours. In addition to these meetings, board members will also commit to committees, workshops, annual strategic planning sessions, regular communication by email, and occasional events as required.
While this is a voluntary position costs associated with involvement can be accommodated for.
